Harvesting Method:

    
 
Fishing using mainly purse seine nets. Caught in large quantities during fishing seasons.
Features:
Small elongate fish. Small snout and short pectorals. A silvery fish with distinct shiny band running down the length of the body.

Current Situation:
Anchovy is a very popular fish in Malaysia and the fishery is currently working at a close to optimum yield level, yet is still operating sustainably and is not overfished.
