Features:
Small silvery fish with big eyes. These fish travel in schools of hundreds to thousands and are found close to shore or on shallow reefs.

Current Situation:
Fisheries data and stock assessments indicate that Scad are not overfished and have healthy populations.
They are caught in commercial, subsistence and recreational fisheries using handlines and small mesh nets—techniques with very little bycatch. Scad are resilient to fishing pressure, since they mature in one year and tend to produce a lot of offspring
