Current Situation Farmed snapper is a much better seafood option as it meets the demand for seafood whilst reducing the pressure on wild fish numbers. However the environmental issues related to this type of farming is increased nutrient and pollution levels around the farming cages due to waste from the fishes. A further issue is the feed which can include fresh fish, possibly adding to overfishing problems with other fisheries
